In this article, we will see how to convert the video file to flv file and integrate it on your web site using DreamHost’s flash player.

To integrate the video file on you website using flash player, you first need to have the video file in .flv format. If you don’t have the video file in .flv format then you will have to convert it using DreamHost’s “Flash Media” facility. Using DreamHost’s flash media you can convert any AVI, MOV & MPEG file in to FLV file format.

To demonstrate here, I am going to use the video of DreamHost domain registration. This video is in mp4 format. Before you integrate this video on the website, you will have to convert it in .flv format. To convert the video, you will first have to upload it on your DreamHost account. I have uploaded the video at https://dhdjdj.com/videos/dreamhost-domain-registration.mp4.

To start the video conversion process, first login to DreamHost panel using your web ID and password. Then click on Goodies section. Click on Flesh Media link.

Now enter your uploaded video URL to convert to flv. If you want to convert more than one files then you can upload all files in one folder and then use convert whole directory of files option.

Click on “I’m done uploading, convert this file now…” button.

You will get an email from DreamHost when the conversion of the file is finished. You will see the newly converted file in the same directory with the same name but different extension. Your newly converted file have .flv extension. Now the original file is not needed any more. You can delete it but it’s not necessary.

In the email from DreamHost, you will also get the instructions on how to embed the video on your website. You will get the complete HTML code for embedding the video. Following video is embedded using the DreamHost provided code.
